In the heart of the Saumur area, Thibault, the host, welcomes you in an 18th and 19th century tuffeau building "Le Clos du Bois Brard" located near the town centre, the National Riding School, the golf course, the world famous wine cellars, the Loire and the Thouet river by bike. The property offers a flat, four guest rooms with swimming pool (May to September) and breakfasts on the terrace. This house has a very original architecture and charm with its unique style.
A CLOS is a plot of vineyard surrounded by tufa walls. This CLOS was part of the BOIS BRARD, owned at the time by Louis XIV's Minister of Finance, FOUQUET. The wings were built during the 18th century and then the second and third floors in the 19th century. During this period, Honoré de Balzac was often received at the CLOS by the mistress of the house when he wrote Eugénie Grandet.
