Twenty minutes from the Côte d’Azure, the relais du Peyloubet is a quiet 18th century farmhouse near the town of Grasse. In the early 19th century the Relais was a farmhouse raising olives and roses for the perfumeries. The area was a refuge for artists, including Picasso, after WWII. The property was was once a relay station for the postal system and formerly owned by the Russian dissident Alexandrovo (who now resides in the US). The view of the valley is
magnificent, and protected as a nature reservation. It is now owned by Xavier, who hosts a newly renovated "chambre d’hôtes" (bed and breakfast) with three spacious rooms: The Olive Room, The Rose Room and The Wisteria Room. Each newly decorated room has Provencal antiques, a modern bathroom (including shower and bathtub), hi-fi, mini-bar and television. Guests enjoy breakfast with their host, a comfortable living room with a corner fireplace, a reading room and a shaded terrace overlooking a tranquil valley. Guests are welcome to use a large refrigerator, gas stove and oven and microwave as well as the barbeque located on the terrace. A telephone is available. The property offers a swimming pool, volleyball, Provencal ’bowling’ (petanque), cycling and Ping-Pong.
An 18 hole golf course is within 3 Kms, and horseback riding and tennis are nearby. Sailing, scuba diving and swimming in the Mediterranean are 20 minutes away. Grasse is the home of the world’s perfume manufacturers and factory tours are available as is the museum of Provence. Charming ancient villages abound: Valbonne, Tourettes sur loup, St Paul de Vence and many others. Charming Valbonne is 5 minutes away and offers many shops, art
