The Inverted Tours reveal the history and cultures of homosexual Paris from the 17th century to the 1980s.
This initiative was born in May 2005 and remains unique in Paris. These guided tours lasting about two hours reverse the outlook on the capital. They shed light on the destinies of famous and unknown homosexuals and redraw the geography of gay places in Paris (clubs, bars, etc.). But they also evoke the repressions that have affected the “buggers” and the “tribades” over the centuries, as well as their struggles to acquire rights and become citizens like others.
Other tours offer a view of the great Parisian museums and certain temporary exhibitions with a… gay eye, of course. The Inverted Tours are led by professional guide-lecturers or volunteer neighborhood developers, members of Paris Gay Village, specially involved in historical research on routes that motivate them.
The association regularly offers new products to enrich its catalog and satisfy an increasingly numerous and varied public. Paris Gay Village organizes an average of one visit per month from September to June.
